This is a brand new, never opened, and SOLD OUT set of the Green Hornet and Kato sculptures donated to us from their sculptor Rubèn Procopio. Produced by the Electric Tiki company, this particular set is the Sideshow Collectibles variant limited to only 100 pieces that had a more retro paint scheme as seen in the photos of the item itself (the photo on the box was the darker, wider release of the statues).We believe this is an unnumbered artist proof copy of the statues, but can't be absolutely sure since we have chosen to leave the tape around the styrofoam inserts intact. With a separating base, the figures may be displayed apart, or together in the back-to-back pose. Procopio signed the outside of the box (seen in the photo), which itself is in brand new condition having been protected by an outer shipping box.
Rubèn Procopio is a second generation Disney artist. His father, Adolfo, was a sculptor for Disney Imagineering, having worked on many characters for rides and statues around the various Disney theme parks. Rubèn worked for over 25 years with Disney Feature Animation contributing to films such as The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and The Lion King. Having learned the sculpting trade from his father, Rubèn formed his own company (Masked Avenger Studios) from which he sculpts for collectible statues (Electric Tiki, Disney Classics Collection, etc.), toys, and even special projects such as sculpting The Sergio Award designed by MAD Magazine artist Sergio Aragonès given to artists and creators of great influence such as Jack Davis, Bil Keane, Stan Lee, and most recently Drew Struzan.
