Cathy Guisewite

We are pleased to be able to offer the ORIGINAL ART for a comic strip by Cathy Guisewite. Measuring at 16.5x6.75” and created with ink and classic zipatone (the dots), this Cathy strip first appeared in newspapers on April 16, 2003 playing off of the Starbucks craze that continues today, though with a price hike compared to 2003’s prices! Signed in pencil “To you + your priorities from me + mine. Cathy Guisewite, Sept. 2016”. Also signed “Guisewite” in ink in the last panel.

Cathy Guisewite began her career in advertising, and sort of fell into cartooning in the late 1970s after submitting some cartoons to a syndicate to appease the urging of her mother. Cathy first appeared in newspapers in 1976 that had seen nothing like it before. Offering humorous and intelligent insights into the life of a single woman, Cathy became a huge hit spawning books, greeting cards, and even an animated TV special for which Guisewite won an Emmy Award in 1987. For her cartooning, in 1992 Cathy won the Reuben Award, the highest honor from the National Cartoonists Society. She is also one of the rare cartoonists to have appeared on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Guisewite retired her strip in 2010.
